Outside Reading #2

Today I started the book New Moon, by Stephanie Meyer, which is the second book in the Twilight Series. I have only read the first chapter, but the suspense is already killing me. The book starts out on Bella's birthday, she is turning 18 and is sad because Edward will always be 17. She doesn't want anyone to make a big deal about her birthday, but Edward and his family can't help themselves. After school, the Cullen's are having a birthday party for Bella. Edwards siblings, Emmett, Jasper, and Rosalie, give Bella a new stereo for her old pick up truck. Right as Bella is opening the gift from Edward and Alice (Edward's sister who is also Bella's friend) she gets a paper cut and a large amount of chaos breaks loose and soon blood is gushing form Bella's arm.

Outside Reading

Today I read an article about Yankee Stadium. As many of you know, Yankee Stadium is going to be torn down after this baseball season is over.
The memories will never die, just the house of all of those great memories. In this article it talked about the spectacular events that occurred at Yankee Stadium. Such as Babe Ruth hitting a home run in the first game every played in the park or when President George W. Bush threw the ceremonial first pitch in game three of the World Series in 2001, which was just a little more than a month after the 9/11 attacks. In the article it also talks about the other events, not relating to baseball, that have occurred there. Such as Pope Benedict XVI, Paul VI, and John Paul II each gave speeches on the field or the boxing championships that have happened there. Yankee Stadium has been renovated and updated throughout its life, but all of the memories that happened there are still within the walls and seats of the stadium.

Favorite Book Discussion: Twilight

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer is definitely my favorite book of all time. It is about a teenage girl named Bella, who moves to Forks to live with her dad and while she is there she meets an unexpected group of people. From the start Bella knows that there is something strange, but intriging about this group of students at school. She sits by one of these students in science and he gives of this aroma that makes you always want to be by him. As the year goes on Edward Cullen, who is her lab partner, saves her life several times. Bella wants to be with Edward, but he says its safer for her to not be with him. Bella doesn't understand why. Even though Edward thinks its dangerous for them to be together, they can't help how they feel. Bella soon figures out that Edward isn't human. Throughout the rest of the book, Bella and Edward come across road blocks that threaten their lives and Edward's secret.
I am sure almost every girl in class has read this book, but if you haven't you should. The suspense is never ending and the plot is full of events.
Has anyone read any of the other books in the series? If you have what did you think about them?

Athletic

Sports are a big part of my life and I always enjoy participating in them. I have grown up with a family that loves to be outside in the winter and I have followed in my family’s footsteps. During the winter I ski and snowboard every week. I am a lot better at skiing, but snowboarding is a challenge I greatly welcome. I have had the experience of skiing in Vail and Beaver Creek with my family. The runs were more challenging, but it was an experience I will never forget. I also enjoy going on bike rides and walks. My bike is my transportation to almost everywhere, so I am glad that I enjoy it. Walking around Lake Calhoun is something I always do with my mom. Walks are a great way to be outside whether it is sunny or rainy. Biking and walking are relaxing and fun to do with others. My main sport is fast pitch softball. I play all year round and I really enjoy it. It’s always a blast at tournaments when I get to spend time with my team and have a great time playing the game. Just like any other sport there are practices that are not always the most fun, but they make you better as a player and as a team. I get better every year, which makes softball worth all of the effort I put into it. I enjoy sports so much because you can always get better and have fun. Calendar
